Villa Erba, the historic residence that has hosted for years the great director Luchino Visconti, is once again the protagonist of an extraordinary cultural event. From November 29th to December 1st of 2024 the first edition of Cinemateca took place, a review dedicated to Italian archive cinema, which celebrates and enhances our film heritage in collaboration with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. An event that not only promotes cinema, but transforms the entire space into a unique sensory experience, in which design and the art of interior furnishing also play a fundamental role.
The intimate and sophisticated atmosphere of Villa Erba is perfect for hosting an event of such magnitude, where every detail is designed to enhance the beauty of Italian history and film culture. Away from the traditional museum spaces, here the public is invited to live a real sensory immersion in a home that has inspired and hosted some of the biggest names in international cinema.

In this exclusive setting, Luxury Carpet Studio, a reference company in the creation of custom-made carpets and rugs, has contributed to making the environment even more unique, participating in the set up with some of its most prestigious creations. These carpets, besides being elegant and refined, tell a story of craftsmanship, luxury and design.

LCS’s Carpets for Cinemateca
For the occasion, the company has chosen to give a touch of timeless elegance to the different rooms of Villa Erba with a series of carpets that not only meet aesthetic needs, but create a cozy and sophisticated atmosphere, perfect to represent the cultural and artistic context of the event.
The entrance to the villa, the beating heart of the reception, has been enriched by two hand-knotted carpets, with shades of green and gold, which will be the protagonists of the new 2025 collection. The contrast between deep green and bright gold not only captures the eye, but also reflects the meeting of nature and refined wealth that characterized the artistic vision of Visconti.
The Parties Room has hosted two carpets from the Monumental collection, in the Lille and Orange versions. These unique pieces, which combine strength and delicacy, add a dimension of grandeur to an environment that historically has always been the beating heart of the celebrations and social events of the villa. The vibrant colours of the carpets blend with the elegant atmosphere of the hall, creating a perfect dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Finally, the Chimney Room has been embellished with the Ocean Collection’s Madreperla carpet, a work that expresses the refinement of marine lines and the elegance of the most exclusive interiors. The carpet, with its mother-of-pearl tones, recalls the timeless charm of the most intimate and sophisticated environments, creating a harmonious contrast with the villa’s historical character.

A Complete Sensory Experience
These carpets, which enrich the various rooms of the villa, are not only furnishing accessories, but become part of a wider sensory experience that embraces cinema, design and culture. Each room, with its specific layout, invites the public to a journey that is not only visual but also tactile and emotional, in a context that becomes a stage of Italian film stories and memories.
The collaboration between Luxury Carpet Studio and Cinemateca demonstrates how the art of the rug can be a fundamental part of luxury interior design, creating environments that reflect the soul of the places and stories that cross them. With its unique collections, the company has managed to bring a dimension of exclusivity and refinement that not only enhances spaces, but also helps to create a tangible link between the past and the present, between cinema and design.
In conclusion, the Cinemateca event is not only a meeting with the great Italian cinema archive, but also a celebration of how visual art and design can intertwine to give life to a complete, refined and timeless experience.
